John Dwerrihouse
Top quality George III bracket clock by John Dwerrihouse. Strikes hourly to a bell, date aperture, two-train, strike/silent switch, locking pendulum. The mahogany dome case with brass carrying handle, fish scale side grills and fluted brass feet. John Dwerrihouse was a respected London clockmaker active from 1770. He moved his business to Berkely Square in 1800 and died in 1805. The business was subsequently carried on in partnerships e.g. Dwerrihouse & Carter, by his successors. This clock was therefore made between 1800 and 1805.

Magnificent bracket clock standing 26” high (to top of finial) by Brockbanks. 8-day chain driven, triple fusee movement with anchor escapement. Quarter chiming on eight bells and hour striking on a separate bell. Pull repeat. Backplate inscribed “Brockbanks, London.” Dial also signed. Strike/silent lever. Date and regulator sub-dials. Bell top case with orb finial and ball feet.
